Review: The Good Girls Guide to Murder

The Good Girls Guide to Murder is a YA Crime thriller by Holly Jackson. It is about:

‘The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.

But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the crime, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth . . . ?’

My Thoughts:

Ive had my eyes on this book but was tentaive to read it but im so glad i did. I loved this book so much. I really liked Pippa i thought she was a great detective and really knew what she was doing considering this was a school project and she wasnt acctually trained to be a detective but i liked how we got to be the detectives alongside her. There were so many suspects and reason why each one could have done and you couldnt easily figure it out and i was shocked by the end result. Along with this there were so many plot twist that came up which caused so many people to be suspect. I really liked the format of the book and how it was layed out with the journal entries, interviews and charts and how she kept a list of the suspects at the end of each log so the reader doesnt forget them. Even though this book dosent focus on romance, i really liked the subtle romance we got especially at the end. I could see it was going to happen throught out the book but i didnt mind it at all. Its such fast read even with the twist and turns it took and i felt that i was flying through it but also being able to take it all in.

There are a few trigger warnings and topics within this book that werent nice to read about. These being verbal abuse, kidnapping, date rape drugs, selling drugs, murder, death–human and animal.

I gave this book 5 stars and cant wait to pick up the sequel.

I definitley recommend this book if you enjoy fast paced YA thrillers full of twist and turns.
