Review: Shatter Me

Shatter me is the first book in a YA Dystopian series by Taherah Mafi. It is about:

Shatter-Me-2

I have a curse
I have a gift

I am a monster
I’m more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.”

My thoughts:

My friends were begging me to read this book for ages and I finally did. I really enjoyed reading this book. I felt that the writing style is so easy to read to the point that I was flying through this book and it didn’t take me long to read at all. I really enjoyed Juliett as a character. I felt that taherah really allowed you to be inside Juliett mind and feel everything she was going through. I was a bit confused at the beginning to what was going on but once I got further in it all came clear. I didn’t like Warner at the beginning but that’s the point of his character but I was beginning to like him come the end, out of the love triangle my favourite was definitely Adam. I just love the romantic scenes between him and Juliett. They are so cute together and I just wanted more.

I gave this book 4 stars. I really enjoyed it.

4 star branch

Everyone should check out this series if they haven’t already.
