Review: Geekerella

Geekerella is a YA Cinderella retellings by Ashley Poston. It is about:

“Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.”

My Thoughts:

This book so cute and so good! Fairytale retellings are one of my favourite genres to read so combine it with geeks/ nerds like us then bingo! I had heard so many good things about this book so when i finally saw that my library had the book, i immediately reserved it and picked it up. I really like how it was based around a convention as that’s my wish that one day im able to go to a book convention. I also liked how it was based on a fantasy story which reminds me of something like starwars or something. We follow two povs from our two main characters of Elle (Danielle) and Darien. I liked both of the povs as we were able to see how they really felt about things happening in the book and for Darien we are able to see who he actually is rather then the person he portrays infront of other characters in the book. One of my favourite parts of the book to read was the text messages between our two main characters. It reminded me of the film A Cinderella story that i used to watch when i was little.

I gave this book 5 stars as i really loved it and couldn’t stop smiling while i was reading it.

I recommend this book to every one who likes a cute geeky read.
