Review: The Iron Trail

The Iron trail is the 1st book in a Middle grade fantasy series by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. This series is called The Magisterium series. It is about:

‘Most kids would do anything to pass the Iron Trial.
Not Callum Hunt. He wants to fail.
All his life, Call has been warned by his father to stay away from magic. If he succeeds at the Iron Trial and is admitted into the Magisterium, he is sure it can only mean bad things for him.
So he tries his best to do his worst – and fails at failing.
Now the Magisterium awaits him. It’s a place that’s both sensational and sinister, with dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future.
The Iron Trial is just the beginning, for the biggest test is still to come . . .’

This was a buddy read for me with my friend Kayleigh over at KikiiTech over on Youtube! You should all check her out shes lovely! Heres here link:

This book reminded me so much of Harry potter with it being in a magic school and having different years and having to do exams at the end of each year. I love Harry potter so i didnt find this a problem what so ever. I found it a quick read especially when it came to the ending which i did think went it bit too fast.

This book was also diverse as the main callum is slightly disabled because of his leg and Tamara was black. The friendship between callum, Tamara and aaron was strong and grew very quickly to the point where they all work together to keep secrets hidden. There was also a big plot twist that came halfway through the story which i didnt see coming and it blew me away!

I gave this book 5 owls! 5 stars

I recommend this book to anyone who loves Harry potter and Magic!
