Review: Harry potter and the Chamber of secrets

Harry potter and the Chamber of secrets written by Jk rowling is the 2nd book in the harry potter series. If you dont know what this book is about however most people do here is the synopsis:

The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike. And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny. But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone, or something, starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects: Harry Potter himself?’

This was a reread for me as part of the buddy read in which me and my friends aka Stephanie , Jasmine , Sammi ,   Jodie  and Megan from the #HPblogateers are doing. However this time i read the Illustrated edition for the first time. Again i loved rereading= this and seeing how the illustrator aka Jim Kay portrayed this book in his artwork. I loved this book as its the book that started me off my reading and will always have a special space in my life. Reading this book now after its been like 5 or 6 years showed parts of the story that i had forgotten since i last read it and made the experience so much more enjoyable and i feel in love with my characters even more. This is a book i highly recommened for readers of all ages starting from about 7 0r 8 years old.

A part of our buddy readalong we have decided to give each member a book to be spotlighted on where the other members of the group will ask the spotlighted member a question each which will be answered in their review and will feature in all the other’s reviews too. For book 2 Jasmine is our spotlight reader.mpf40AQ5

My Question: Who is your favorite professor?

I like Professor Dumbledore but since he’s not teaching in this book, my next choice would be Professor Rolanda Hooch for flying lessons and Quidditch referee. I love reading the Quidditch game. It’s so exciting and always put me at the edge of my seats!

Stephanie’s Question: If you could drink Polyjuice Potion and turn into any character in Chamber of Secrets, who would it be and why?

I would definitely want to turn into Hermoine and start getting As in my classes. It feels great to know all the answers to all teachers’ questions.

Megan’s Question: Which book do you like better: The Sorcerer’s Stone or Chamber of Secrets? and why?

I like The Sorcerer’s Stone book more because everything is new. Flying the broom, Quidditch, the Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley, Dumbledore with his Put-Out light, and the Sorting Hat. I love discovering Harry Potter!

Jodie’s Question: What was your favorite creature in the book and why?

I love Fawkes the Phoenix. It has magical healing tears and strength not visible to the eye.

Sammi’s Question: What Hogwarts house would you want to be sorted into? and why?

I want to be sorted into Gryffindor because the series is focused on this house the most. I also want to be brave and explore hidden passageways and in the know of everything that’s going on. (I am a rule follower, however, and it’s sucks because I’m missing out on all the fun/excitement/even detention. But that’s why I read books and live through those rule breakers lol).

  1. I love reading this series with you all! Looking forward to book 3! I will have to get ahold of the illustrated editions sometime. They sound amazing! Chamber of Secrets was great, of course, but I agree with Jasmine… I think I liked book 1 better just because we’re being introduced to the world for the first time again. And it’s just so magical!! Nice review, Tiff! You’ve just inspired me to try to get mine posted today 🙂

  2. Love your review Tiffany! And me too, I also forgot many parts of the book and it’s still awesome getting to know Harry Potter and the gang again. It’s cool that you get to read the illustrated version 🙂
