Review: Beastly

Beastly is a standalone retelling of beauty and the beast by Alex flinn. However it also the first book is the Kendra chronicles. it can be read as a standalone but is also a series. It is about:

‘I am a beast.
A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.
You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It’s no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.’

I loved the connections between beauty and the beast for example not leaving the house because of his looks and having two years to find love. This book is a 4.5/5 stars! beuaty and the beast is my favourite fairytale and therefore i love reading retellings of it.

Kyle is our main character or our beast who is turned into a beast by a witch called kendra who gives him two years to find love or he stays as a beast forever. it was nice to see how he feels during the changed and see his rewl feelings and not the one he puts on for school. i also really felt sad for him as his dad didnt want anything to do with him when he becomes the beast. I like how he did get a little family within the book in the form of the house keeper and the blind tutor his dad hires to teach him while hes hiding out in the house. Lindys character is a simple character and a bookworm and during the book we also got an insight to her life and how her father is useless. We also saw how she slowly became to love him and the fight the both put up.
