Rating: 4.5/5 stars
This book is ‘based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in Londonโs West End on July 30, 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isnโt much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.’
Harry Potter was the book that got me into reading so when they released an 8th book i couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. It is not a proper novel as it is written as a script but being in that format it didn’t bother me and in fact it actually made me read a bit quicker.
There were points in this book that made me have to close the book put it down and walk away to be able to process what was happening. Seeing where the original characters were 19 years later was fantastic and how the family relationships and friendships were built and what jobs they had was just right and amazing. I really enjoyed reading this book and the book made me lose myself in it and not notice what happening outside the book around me.
The friendship that albus had with Scorpius Malfoy was just like the friendship we had in the first book with the golden trio and i felt really sorry for albus at the beginning when nothing was right for him and he felt left out of his family.
I recommend this book to anybody who loves harry potter and doesn’t mind a script format.
I love Harry Potter but still have only read up to book 5…and I don’t think I could read a play format! I know…I suck.
But I loved the movies! (I’ll bet they’ll make this one into one)

I finished The Prisoner of Azkaban and then stopped. I was very young when they came out… And I got out of reading for a while. So I want to start the whole series over again from book 1.

I did finally read this book and wanted to come back to reading your review close-up. You’re right, the play format does makes reading it quicker. What didn’t you like about that book that was not a 5 stars? Also, did you write a review for ACOTAR? I was looking for your thoughts on it too but couldn’t find ๐

I did get confused between some bits which made me put it down to 4 it was probably more of a 4.5 to be honest and no I didn’t as I read it before I started blogging properly but I am rereading it next week so I’ll write a review then! ๐

I do have many books I read before blogging too. So hard to remember them to do a proper review now so re-read is a must ๐
